Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Elimika (“StudyTok”, “we”, “us”), an educational short-video platform. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Accounts

• You must be at least 13 years old to use Elimika. If you are under 18, you confirm you have permission from a parent or guardian.
• You may register with an email and password or with Google sign-in. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential.
• One account per person. Usernames must not impersonate others or be offensive; we may reclaim or rename violating usernames.
• You may delete your account at any time from the app (Profile → Delete account) or via the account deletion page.

2. Your content & licence to us

• You keep ownership of the videos, text posts, comments and quizzes you create.
• By posting, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, distribute and promote that content within and in connection with the service (including previews and recommendations).
• You confirm you own the content or have the rights to share it, and that it does not infringe anyone's rights. Do not upload exam papers or materials you are not allowed to share.
• We may remove content that violates these Terms or the law, and we may process uploads (e.g. thumbnails) to operate the service.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Post unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or graphically violent content — including in videos, comments, quizzes and usernames.
• Share answers or materials in a way that facilitates academic dishonesty where prohibited by your institution (e.g. live exam papers).
• Spam, scrape, reverse-engineer, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service.
• Collect other users' personal data, or post anyone's private information without consent.
• Use the service for advertising or commercial promotion without our written permission.

4. Quizzes & learning content

• Quizzes are community-created study aids, not accredited examinations. Scores reflect practice performance only.
• We do not guarantee the accuracy of user-created lessons or quiz answers. Always verify against your syllabus and textbooks.

5. Intellectual property

The Elimika name, logo, app design and software are our property (or our licensors') and may not be copied or imitated without permission. To report copyright infringement, email [email protected] with the work, the infringing URL, and your contact details.

6. Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, break the law, or harm other users. You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. Termination does not affect rights that accrued beforehand.

7. Disclaimers & liability

• The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular exam outcome.
• To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost study time or exam results.
• Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

8. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Disputes will first be addressed through good-faith discussion, then through the courts of Kenya.
